Dan Kennedy is the morning anchor and lead investigative reporter for 13News Now (WVEC) in Norfolk/Virginia Beach.
Dan previously reported for Nashville's News Channel 5 (WTVF), where he was recognized with two Emmys for his work on breaking news. He also traveled to report on stories of national interest including the Gatlinburg wildfires and Hurricane Irma's impact on Florida. Dan began his career at WRCB, in his hometown of Chattanooga, Tennessee, where his investigative series into a dilapidated cemetery earned him recognition from the Tennessee Associated Press in 2015. He also received awards that year in the categories of "Best Anchor" and "Best Reporter." It was at WRCB that Dan fell in love with a fellow reporter, his now-wife, Kelly. They live in Norfolk with their son, Daniel, and dog, Pearl. Dan and Kelly race in half marathons, and completed the Chattanooga Ironman 70.3 while raising money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Dan is a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism, where he studied Broadcast Journalism and Business. While in school, he worked as a reporter for KOMU and a correspondent for Newsy. |
